This article is ALL OVER the A/R webisphere. How is this anything like a business plan? Charge consumers $55 for no value and expect the public to not seek justice?

Self policing works! More than a decade ago, the State of California had a Bureau specifically to monitor the collection industry. The membership of the California Association of Collectors decided it wasn't benefitting the consumers, the clients, or the collection agencies. We instituted self policing actions to show that legitimate collectors were concerned about public opinion and fair treatment of consumers. We launched an 800# when that was a big deal and actively worked at resolving complaints. The Bureau was sunsetted and no consumers were harmed in the process.
How do we do this? By deciding its OUR responsibility to clean up the marketplace. Otherwise the FTC, CFPB and State AG's are happy to do our work for us.
